About
Jules Kang Sharpe is a cartoonist, risograph publisher, and background designer in Providence, RI. They graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2023 with a BFA in Illustration. They make comics about boyish lesbians and talking eels who are sometimes mean. They also publish a newspaper called The Pit, which they risograph print in Providence.
Jules is a member of Binch Press/Queer.Archive.Work, a publishing studio centering queer and trans artists of color. Jules was the 2025 recipient of the Center for Cartoon Studies Fellowship and was in the 2025 cohort of the Prudence Island Residency program. Their work has been featured in It’s Nice That, The Boston Globe, Lux Magazine, and more. In 2025 they worked as a background designer at Shadowmachine for the Netflix animated series, Long Story Short. Jules has taught classes and workshops at New Urban Arts, RISD’s Painting Department, Stonehill College, and at Binch Press. They are currently writing a graphic novel about a dysfunctional lesbian gardening commune.
